Making Preparations

Every Friday I have some moms over for coffee. It's a nice little gathering. Here's Corban, one of the little babies whose mom is usually here. I tried to hold him last week, and Jonah just wouldn't have it. Oh boy, he's in for a big change!

Here's Timmy, who's just about Jonah's age. Every single time I take Jonah to the park and he goes in the swing, he points to the swing next to his and says "Timmy's".

What a pair!

We're getting ready for Caleb to come. I just had a doctor's appointment on Wednesday, and everything looks good. The doctor said it could be any day! Oh boy! Yesterday Luke picked up a couple things that we found on Craig's List... here's a Moses Basket that Caleb can sleep in and I can haul around the house with me. It's got a tiny little mattress in it and nice handles. What a great movable bed that will allow me to remove Caleb from the flying balls and loud noises of Jonah's world...

We found a nice little bassinet too...

I caught Jonah waking up yesterday. Enjoy!

Dump Trucks & Diggers

Jonah is still drawing on the little toy that he got from Uncle Tom and Auntie Maria. His favorite thing is to draw "happy" and "sad" and to watch other people draw it. But we draw all kinds of things!

The basket has been a favorite toy lately...

Jonah loves to put it over his head and hide from us. Then we have to say "Jonah?" until he takes it off. What a fun game!

Here are some videos from the past few days. There are a couple of Jonah drawing... he draws trees, Ellie, the sun, all kinds of objects, but he also loves to draw his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins! We do this a lot...

Jonah doesn't feel the same way about the pool that he did last summer. As you'll see from these videos, we're going to have to work up to even getting in the water. Last night when Jonah saw Luke in the pool, he just cried and said "out" because he wanted his dad to sit on the step next to him- he was scared or something. You can even hear Jonah saying "sit" to Luke. It took us a while to even get him to put his toes in!

There's a huge construction project going on not far from Ave Maria, much to Jonah's delight! They are converting Oil Well Road from a two-lane highway to a six-lane highway, so it's a monstrous undertaking that involves many beloved machines, beloved to Jonah anyway. He has a little book about trucks that has every kind of construction machine in it, but his two favorites are dump trucks and diggers. Well, every time we drive down Oil Well Road, Jonah can't get enough of the live dump trucks and diggers- he's amazed seeing them at work. So today when we had to be out of the house (because someone was coming to look at it) I decided to take Jonah over to the construction site, park the car, and let him watch the action.

Oh Crumps!

Yesterday morning we hosted the RA inservice at our house, so all the RDs came over and cooked breakfast for the RAs... then they talked about the semester and ways to improve for next year. What a great bunch of people they are!

Luke helped to keep all the pancakes warm while we waited for everyone to arrive.

Brett cooked all of the meat...

And Beth was in charge of the pancakes!

On Saturday we took Jonah to a park in Naples that we had heard about. His favorite part of the park, go figure, was the swing!!! This is what Luke did most of the afternoon while I sat down in the shade...

You'll see down below that Jonah enjoyed the "wet" part as well. There's one fenced-in spot where fountains are coming up from the ground and kids can run around and get wet. Here we were walking back to the car to change Jonah's drenched clothing!

Our AC unit has been struggling over the past few days, but Luke and Jonah got it all fixed up. :) Jonah had to be right there in the thick of things...

He got an A+ on shining the flashlight!

And here are a bunch of videos. Two of them need a little explanation, but I'm not sure which two they are. They are both when we're in the car. Jonah has picked up a saying that my dad uses- "Oh crumps!" Luke has always noticed that his father-in-law says this, so he says it sometimes just for a joke, but now Jonah says it all the time. We captured that on one of the videos. All my siblings will probably find that pretty funny...

The other one is when Jonah counts past the number 10. He always skips 11 and goes right to 12, then every single number he says after that sounds exactly the same. I guess it's hard to distinguish between 13, 14, 15, etc... so he does it the easy way and says the same thing for all of them! Enjoy!

A Day With Grammy & Pop

This past Wednesday, Jonah got to spend the entire day with Luke's parents, and he had a ball. They came to Ave Maria to get him around 9:00 in the morning, and off they went for the day. While Luke went to work and I ran errands in Naples, Jonah got to go to a fun place in Fort Myers with Grammy & Pop called Imaginarium...

From what I understand (and this is not hard to believe) the highlight was the big sandbox. I guess Jonah played in it for an hour!

He liked putting the sand through the little funnel and other toys.

He got to see birds, too!

And aquariums...

He even got to stick his hands in the water with the stingrays!

He played by the big metal dinosaur

and touched a tree I guess. He likes to check everything out!

What a great day of fun... thanks, Grammy and Pop. I love you!

Just a few quick videos-

The Seven Dwarfs

He doesn't always draw on the paper...

I just have to post this video. As you know from a couple posts ago, Luke's been reading "Snow White" to Jonah, and he loves it, but he's particularly attached to the page where it shows all seven dwarfs lined up. Luke says all their names, and Jonah says "again, again" until Luke has named them several times. Well, yesterday when Luke got home from work, they sat down to read the book again, and lo and behold, Jonah named the seven dwarfs. We couldn't believe it! He really does pay attention during storytime...

Snow White

For the past several days, I've been sleeping the duration of Jonah's naps, which is really my only time to be on the computer. Here are just a few pictures and a couple videos from the past week...

Storytime on this day was "Snow White" and Jonah loves the part where you name the seven dwarfs. Daddy must have named them fifty times!

Grand Old Flag

Jonah and I were both sick over the past week... it was a rough one, but we're on the mend now. We stayed cooped up in the house for days, just trying to take it easy and get rest. On Monday, though, we took a little excursion to Sanibel and it did us all some good! It was a beautiful day, nice and breezy, and we got to see Luke's parents and grandmother, as well as some aunts and uncles, even a couple cousins. It was fun.

Before I share the pictures from Monday, I want to tell you about Jonah's latest obsession... flags. When we were on the way to Naples the other day, I was trying to find things outside to point out to him so the drive would go quickly. I saw a flag, so I pointed it out and sang the song "You're a Grand Old Flag." For the rest of the drive, every single time Jonah saw a flag he'd say "Again. Again." Needless to say, I sang that song all the way there and all the way home. Then the next day I was standing in the kitchen, and Jonah was looking at one of his books- he started saying "Again" and when I looked in the book he was pointing to a flag. Go figure- the little guy didn't forget! I don't know how many of you watched the Masters golf tournament this past weekend, but you can imagine how it went down in our house. Jonah didn't miss one flag on the green, and I had to sing "Grand Old Flag" at every stroke. Now when we hear Jonah say the word "again" there's no doubt about it... a flag is close at hand.
Here are a bunch of pictures from our time in Sanibel on Monday. We spent most of the day at Grandma Condit's house. This was right before we left for home... Pop and Jonah out on the deck.
With Grammy and Pop...
Jonah was intrigued with the spiral staircase!
An old picture of Larry and his four siblings that was found at their mother's house...
Since it doesn't happen too often that they're all together, a re-enactment was a must!

Here's Pop, Daddy, and Jonah out by the pool... check out that beach ball!
I think it's safe to say that even after all these non-swimming months, Jonah hasn't lost his love for the water.
Seeing as he couldn't get all the way in, he worked at getting every appendage wet.

Here are some pictures out on the pier in Sanibel. Jonah loved it!

This was last week during one of our sick days...
