Basil, Bike Rides, and Baking!

Jonah and I have been doing some planting lately. Here he is next to our basil plants. We planted the seeds together, and in 5 days the first leaves poked through the soil. We check the basil plant every morning, and Jonah gets to water it! Yesterday we planted parsley and green beans, so when they sprout we'll get them on the blog too.

Last week we went to Oktoberfest here in the towncenter, and it was a lot of fun! Caleb got to ride around in the stroller, which he loves.

We stopped by a nearby bench, and Jonah got to take a rest.

Smoothie time!

Jonah picked out his pumpkin.

He kept changing his mind, so eventually I had to step in and help him pick!
Then he got to decorate the pumpkin with his daddy. Nick Thomm was here too, so he joined in the fun.

It was fun having Nick here!

We didn't waste anytime. We carved the pumpkins the same night.

Of course, pulling out the insides was a hit for Jonah!

I carved the face in the big pumpkin.

Finished product.

He's into wearing his dad's ties lately. He loves looking in the mirror in the hallway when he has one on.

We've been looking for a used bike trailer for a long time now, and we finally came across a good brand, in excellent condition. We snatched it right away. Luke's been taking Jonah in it almost every day right after work.

"Uncle Tom and Auntie Maria, I just want you to know that I still love my giraffe."

"A lot."

Jonah and I have been baking cupcakes almost weekly... then we send them up to Luke's office for all the student workers around there. Here are the ones we made this week.

The boys sure have fun together.

A couple videos...

I Can't Believe We're Still Looking at the Light!

Even if there's a touch of chill in the air, I like to haul out the hats... reminds me of the north!

Our new next door neighbor had an extra double jogging stroller, so they gave it to us. Isn't that awesome? Jonah loves it, but Caleb doesn't... at least not yet. We've used it quite a bit so far.

A very caring big brother.

"I spend a lot of time on my tummy these days."

"There's so much to look at next to the big windows."

Yes, this is how you start to look when you've got boys and a crazy busy FUN life!

We are STILL looking at the light every night.
And every morning.
And almost every hour in between...

Jonah got to introduce the light to Elizabeth on Saturday!

Enjoying the evening together...

The Light

Behind our house there's a lamp post that Jonah is in love with. Actually, he's in love with the light itself. It goes on when it gets dark outside, but then it will only stay on for a few minutes... then it goes out. It just keeps going on and off, it's weird. I'm not sure what we'd do with Jonah for the last half hour before bedtime if this light did not exist. Every single night before he goes to bed, he wants to look at the light, usually with his dad. He says, "Let's look!" Then they draw back the curtain to look at the light, and then Jonah will run around, sometimes jump and down, and exclaim, "I can't believe it's on!" or "I can't believe it's off!" or "It's amazing!" Sometimes he will ask his dad to "blow it on" or "blow it off," to which Luke will blow toward the window in the direction of the lamp post. Jonah loves it. This saga will continue for an entire half hour every night, and even then he only stops because we tell him it's time for bed. When we go into his bedroom, he wants to look at the light that's outside the bedroom window. Unbelievable. What is in this kid's future?!!!

Some Pics from Grandpa & Grandma's Visit

Here are some pictures we took while Grandpa and Grandma were here. We all had so much fun with them, and we miss them lots! :( I have to go through the videos, and then I'll put some of those up here as well. Enjoy!

Grandpa and Jonah at the computer

A sleepy Caleb in Grandma's arms

He spends a lot of time on his tummy now!

Grandpa and Caleb had some good heart-to-heart chats

He enjoys being in the Johnny Jump-up, but as you can see here he's content just to hang there.

More time with Grandpa

And that's the end of playtime.

"I love you, big brother!"

"I love you, Grandma."

Jonah was happy to share his afternoon snack with Grandpa.

This guy likes to be in a standing-up position.

And talking to Grandma.

These two sure spent a lot of time together!

Shark Fishing Venture

Last Friday Luke took Jonah to the shore in Naples, where one of the AMU students was taking some other guys shark fishing. They both had a great time. I love these pictures... they are beautiful!

The guy in charge, Victor

Jonah sure had fun playing on the beach

See?

It's great male bonding

This is a great pic, don't you think?

And a few videos... hope you enjoy them!

One of the guys caught a ladyfish, and it proved to be a wonderful toy for Jonah.
