Caleb's First Appointment

Caleb had his first doctor's apppointment yesterday, and he passed with flying colors. Usually babies lose weight in their first week of life outside the womb, and I was concerned about Caleb because he sleeps so much (even at night!)... but he weighed only one ounce less than he did when he was born. So he's doing great with the nursing and everything else. The doctor commented on his long toes and his strong suction. Everything looks great!

Here are pictures and videos from the last several days.

A baby Jonah look-alike

He's always comfortable in mom and dad's bed

On Saturday dad took Jonah over to the water park right here in Ave Maria. It's pretty nice. There are a few different pools- this one is a beach-entry pool, so it's perfect for Jonah to walk around in.

And he's still been spending a lot of time in our pool at home. Grandpa and Grandma both went in with Jonah the other day, and they all had a great time!

We knew this would happen sooner or later...

Grandma can't get enough

Everytime Grandpa holds Caleb, they both fall asleep

Watching Jonah's favorite youtube video- Snow White

The other night when the weather was nice we relaxed in the chairs by the pool

Jonah got another haircut yesterday. How did we do it, you might ask? Well, we had the help of Snow White.

Reading time

Here are a bunch of videos. Hope you enjoy them!

I think this one is of Jonah and the balloon. Luke attached a ball to the bottom of it, and it's been an awesome toy for Jonah to play with. And yesterday he even tried to give it to Caleb!

It's never too early to start...

I guess sleep is contagious

Maybe this video is more than you want to see

More Pictures of Caleb

Luke got Jonah a little tool set, which we gave to him right after we got home from the hospital yesterday. Jonah's been playing with it ever since. I guess everything is broken around here because Jonah's been going around just fixing stuff. He's been sawing our legs, pounding nails with the little hammer, and using the screwdriver to "fix" the bouncing zebra.

Here are some more pictures from the hospital. This is Bridget, one of Luke's co-workers, holding little Caleb...

And Julie...

Here's Dr. Foley, who delivered Caleb... barely. He made it just in time. I love how Caleb is looking right at him.

This was a popular position for Caleb and his daddy during our hospital stay.

We actually got a good rest both nights. He loved it in my bed.

But he layed in the bassinet too.

Maria requested a picture of the "suite"... here are a couple!

When Jonah visited the second night, he got to play with lots of buttons.

In Grandpa's arms again

"My brother?"

Jonah can find entertainment even at the hospital.

There's always time for reading books!

And being held by Grandma.

Caleb Joseph

The time has finally arrived... Caleb is here! He was born on Wednesday, May 19th, at 9:23 in the morning. He weighed 7 pounds 14 ounces and was 20 inches long. It was a very quick labor. My contractions began around 7:00 in the morning, my water broke right before 8:00, and we were in the car on our way to the hospital shortly after that. It was a very uncomfortable ride to the hospital, but Luke got to drive really fast and even go through a couple red lights. I'm sure it's a car ride we'll never forget!

I was in the delivery room a few minutes after 9:00, and Caleb arrived on the scene right away, almost before the doctor came! Here are a bunch of pictures and videos from the first few days of Caleb's life outside the womb.

We had several visitors the first evening... Grandpa, Grandma, Jonah, Dan, Bridget, and Julie...

While Grandma held Caleb, I got to have Jonah in the bed with me!

And Grandma...

I've already gotten a lot of use out of the nursing cover that Mary Ellen made for me! Thanks, Mel! :)

Right after the delivery...

What a cute little guy

And a proud daddy

"Caleb, I can't believe I'm already holding you. We JUST got to the hospital!"

This picture reminds me of one of the first pictures we took of Jonah.

He just can't get enough of his second son!

What a whirlwind of a morning!

This was my very first look at him.

Okay, here are a bunch of videos that we took. I can't remember if I have them in order or not, and some are shorter than others. Also, I think there are a couple that came out sideways, but you can still see what's going on. We hope you enjoy them. Welcome, Caleb!
