Telephone Excitement

Last night we made pizza again, and Joe requested that we take a picture from the side of one slice so he can see what the crust is like. Joe, we took three pictures and one video for you, and we did the best we could. Hopefully you can see from them what our pizza is turning out like. Here goes...

Pizza pics

And a short pizza video...

If we don't close the refrigerator door as quickly as possible, Jonah gets right in there!

We got a few sippy cups that don't have handles, and he's enjoying them.

The other day I noticed a spatula hanging inside our money jar, and I assumed that Luke put it there while he assumed I put it there. We finally discovered it was Jonah's doing.

He likes running his fingers along the air vent.

He has grown to love the Johnny Jump-Up... when it's on the floor.
Wandering around looking for something to get into
Didn't take him long
This is a pretty popular nook
So is this

Luke was talking to Seth Spears on the phone this morning when I took this video. You will see how excited he gets when someone is talking on the phone and you hold it up to him. Enjoy, have a great day, and love to all of you!

Scary Vacuum Cleaner

The talk went well yesterday. The seniors were kind and attentive, and I enjoyed my time with them. Hopefully they got something out of it. Jonah started talking a lot and making noise at the beginning, so Luke ended up taking him into the hallway.

Here's Jonah waiting patiently while I got my things ready

Organizing my papers

It was fun to write on the board again!

My guys

Jonah is very frightened of the vacuum cleaner. Last night we tried to help him get over his fear by sitting near the vacuum with him.
He wasn't quite ready.
Whenever it's around, he can't take his eyes off it. Notice how he never let go of Luke's shirt.

The puppet show made him forget the scary vacuum.

Enjoy, have a great day, and love to all of you!

Oh Happy Eating

Luke is making two trips to the airport today. He's driving one RD candidate back this morning and then picking up another tonight. I'm giving my talk at 1pm, so Luke is going to watch Jonah during that time. I think they'll probably sit in the room with me and listen, but if Jonah gets fussy at all, they'll take a little walk outside.

Jonah is still eating happily these days. He's onto bananas, yogurt, pears, green beans, and cantaloupe. His favorite breakfast is bananas mixed with yogurt. Here are a few pictures of him in his high chair.
"I get bananas and yogurt today?!!!"

And when he's not in the high chair, he's at least hanging onto it.

Enjoy, have a great day, and love to all of you!

The Latest Toys

It has sure been a busy week! Luke made a trip to the airport last night to pick up an RD candidate who's here to be interviewed, and he'll make a couple more trips to the airport before the week's end. I've been preparing my talk for Thursday- that's been my main focus lately during Jonah's naps. The talk is on developing healthy relationships in college, and we're expecting about 20-25 high school seniors to attend. Hopefully that will go well. Jonah is busy crawling and looking for places to explore. He's getting into everything!

Last night we went over to the dorm to set up a guest room for the incoming RD candidate

Jonah's playground

When he's not in the living room, he's most likely playing with...

the dishwasher

the coffee cup
the water jug

the high chair
or his latest toy, the hamper!
He was quite talkative this morning. Enjoy, have a great day, and love to all of you!

Oooooooh... Curtains!

It's been a few days! I've tried several times to load videos since yesterday morning, and now is the first time it's worked. We had a quiet Memorial Day yesterday, but it was nice. We've been working on getting the guest room done. Seth and Katie Spears and their two children are coming into town on Saturday, so it's a great incentive to work on the room. It's almost done. We'll probably paint a little bit tonight, and then Luke has to pick someone up from the airport at 9:30. While he's gone, I'm going to work on my talk for the Immokalee students, which I'm giving on Thursday.

Luke took apart and stored the coffee table so we don't have to keep moving it around. Now the living room is open and perfect for Jonah's little playground.

We're still taking our evening strolls...

"Jonah, here's your introduction to the most important website, www.weather.com..."

Most of the time he's smiling

Most of the time, he's near the diaper box

We took a trip to Walmart yesterday to get a few things, and he enjoyed the cart

If you lay on the floor to do crunches (like Luke does) or talk on the phone (like I do) Jonah will crawl over to you and climb on top of you. He just wants to be involved in everything!

The curtains have been very exciting lately
Enjoy, have a great day, and love to all of you!

A Truck, A Pizza, and A Bath

Maria was right... the answer to yesterday's question is the PACIFIER! (Way to go, Maria.) The other day Luke asked me if I knew where it was, and I had to laugh. After 6 months of breaking out into a cold sweat when we couldn't find it, it's funny to wonder where it is and not really care to know one way or the other. Jonah got to a point where he never wanted it anymore- now he just wants Ellie and his thumb. No complaints here.

Yesterday Jonah had a play date with three other kids. The two on the left are Isaac and Isaiah, sons of Kristin Loboda, who went to Steubenville and was actually in Austria the same semester as I was. I'm sure you recognize Mary Kate's daughter, Elizabeth. It was fun. We took the kids in the pool for a little while, and then we had lunch. Jonah was quite taken with the truck.

Yep, he LOVED the truck!

Elizabeth is really close to walking. Jonah is really interested in the truck.

Watching Jonah like this reminded me of Walter playing with his Tonka truck when we lived together in college.
In the afternoon, when Jonah woke up from his nap, we took a little gander over to Luke's office.
Jonah crawled around and found many things to play with.

But his favorite discovery was the tennis ball.

Last night we made pizza, and it was a huge improvement upon the last couple times. Here was our first pizza of three.

"Honey, you're supposed to put the cheese on the PIZZA!"
Ready for our tummies

This is a long blog, isn't it? Well, here's the last part, a few pictures of Jonah's latest toys.
Jonah and the diaper box

Jonah and the rolling pin
Jonah and the garbage can

Jonah and the whale
(ha ha ha)

We took this video last night. We wanted you guys to see how Jonah makes his way into the bathroom for his nightly bath. Luke gets Jonah ready in the other room, and when he hears the bath water running, he crawls into the bathroom (I'm talking about Jonah, not Luke.) Enjoy, have a great day, and love to all of you!
